Howdy, fellow Draconiacs!  RazorFox here.

It is my sincere pleasure to re-introduce to the series Flare.  Who says you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression?  Woo!

Those of you looking for a soundtrack to this page can continue to pull up “Some Nights” by Fun.

Sorry for the slight delay in getting this page out, but it’s been an eventful week.  On the upside, I attended my first Otakon in 7 years, and my return was nothing short of a major triumph.  After years of Otakon steadily increasing in terms of inconvenience and expenses while simultaneously decreasing in revenue and fun, I was a bit skeptical about coming back to it.  I attended largely due to popular demand from you, my fellow Draconiacs, and the welcome I got was nothing short of magical from both the fans and from the convention organizers.  Through no request of my own, Otakon’s Artist Alley staff graciously placed me in a prime location by a major entrance, alongside other webcomic luminaries such as Spinnerette and The Devil’s Panties, and I got to meet dozens of fans, both new and “classic.”  In particular, it was really cool to meet such established Draconiacs as GentlemanPlayerKobra, and Silent.Kiai.

There’s a lot of ground to cover, including getting to dance to the “Time Warp” at the Hard Rock Café, but it would take up too much of your time.  Just trust me when I say that Otakon weekend was nothing short of amazing!  I’m not one hundred percent decided on whether to attend in 2013, but I’m strongly leaning toward it.  Stay tuned.

On the downside, however, no convention is complete without a little bacterial or viral souvenir, and when you get 30,000 people under one roof, something’s bound to spread.  I’ve spent the last 7 days sick as a dog with one of the hardest and most persistent colds I’ve had in quite some time.  That’s kept me from being able to work at my fullest.

Well, that, and the Olympics.

So thanks, everyone, for your patience.  I hope to have the next page up in substantially less time, so keep your peepers peeled.  In the meantime, enjoy the new page, and enjoy Flare’s awesome bartending skills.  Take care, my fellow Draconiacs, and thanks for reading!

=RazorFox.

Wow, Flare eh? She sure knows how to serve up a drink, and she's CUTE too! Man, when did it get so hot in here? o_0;
Wonderful job as always Danny!!

Thanks! Flare's a character that's been on the backburner (no pun intended) since the 2004 calendar. One of the big things on my to-do list when I inherited the writing duties was to give her and Xhianil's story the attention it deserved. I'm really glad Flare's made such a great first impression thus far!

And yes, she's supposed to be really cute and spunky. She's got a name to live up to, after all. ^o^

Wait. Burning drinks? Now that's a fire empowered drink. *Take a sip*
Ugh… I don't feel so well.
*Burnt up in flame*
P.S Just leave where the ashes are.

It's not for the weak of heart… or stomach. Make sure to blow it out first. ^__^;;

I imagine a number of drinks could be lit on fire. Just need a high nuff alchy content. And a liquid that will release it fast enuff to replenish the vapours at the surface. That said. I was fond of Flaming Sambuca's. Simple shot of Sambuca, lite it. And if you have the knack for timing it and toss it right, you can shoot it while still flaming. Not done in a sipping style. Kinda all in so your mouth is like a candle snuffer and toss to back of mouth. Fortunately alchy burns cool (relatively speaking) so burns be rare unless you be real sloppy. I know I never burned myself.

This makes me want a Flaming Sambuca for ol times sake.

I watched you draw some of this the other day! ^o^ Didn't get to stay long but it was really fun watching you~ <3 And your lineart is just so smooth too! Awesome page once again! *goes back to lurking*

Thanks for the kind words! And feel free to poke your head into the daylight once in a while. Lurkers are cool, but it's more fun to partake in the conversation. ^__^

Lets hope I got this reply thing right… *so confused*
I'll have to poke into the sunlight more often! It's always fun talking to new people, especially when it comes to art. xD Though even if I'm somewhat loud, and easy to talk too – I can be shy too, so sometimes I tend to just hide away and enjoy things quietly haha.

Anyway's keep up the good work~ Draconia Chronicles is probably my favourite Kat-Box comic. Though I am very biased since Dragons (and hybrids too) are possibly my favourite mythological creature. :3

In panel 2, Flare's legs seem to have been misplaced.

LOL! They're there, I assure you. The line art down in that area was getting a little too crowded, so I silhouetted Flare's lower half to bring out Amperie and Elektra's hands and cups better. It's actually an old comics trick that I use once in a while. Maybe I could've left the area colored in, but I'll just leave it as is for now. ^__^

LOL! Elektra was a pretty easy-going Captain of the Guard. So now I know, if I ever want to get on her good-side, give the Lightning Dragon some good ol' booze!

Learn how to make a "Flaming Sunset" and you'll score some mad brownie points. ^__^

@RazorFox. I'm serious. Due to the orange color and the stout glass used, I have an idea exactly what recipe to use. The Flaming Sunset can only be the equivalent of our world's "Flaming Fruit Tree". 1/2 oz Peach Schnapps. 1/2 oz Banana Liqueur. 1/2 oz Everclear Alcohol. Mix well. Light on fire for five seconds, blow out. Suck through a straw to drink the mix at a higher temperature as the straw works with almost thermos effect, keeping the liquid inside it hotter, longer as you enjoy it's warmth.

So that's Flare, I watched a bit of your livestream and I was wondering who the dragon that you were coloring was. I'm going to guess that dragons get tattooed when they go into some sort of palace service, possibly the guard? She does know how to put on a fiery good show though ^_^ I love the background and the fire on the alcohol effects XD another awesome page Razor, I'm excited to see what happens next. Also glad that you're feeling better ^_^

Thanks. I've still got a nagging sniffle and a bit of gunk in my throat, but otherwise, I'm doing tons better. And I'm glad you're digging Flare. She and Xhianil made some extremely brief appearances in the old calendar series before we ever had a chance to learn anything about them. I wanted to make sure their stories got told. I hope you'll continue to join me to find out what happens next. ^__^

Dang, gotta like that spunky personality. Pity she'll eventually die at the hands of the tiger (I'd imagine because of her inexperience). But anyway, it should be interesting to see how the thunder dragons fall from the queen's favor.

Oh and Razor. Try for a less erratic posting schedule. You had me checking every day for the new post.

Sorry. This one did get delayed due to a convention and illness. My goal is to have pages within 10 days or less from each other. There are a variety of ways to keep track of updates, though. See the previous page's commentary to see how you can follow the comic on Facebook, Twitter, FA, DA, or via RSS.

Or, you can just check the site daily, if you really want to. We won't stop you. ^__^

Howdy, me again! ^^ been abit since I commented, busy and all that, loving that the comics back on track. I feel I may work on something of a fanwork for ya, though I have a number of questions with which to do so, is there a means with which I can contact you? ^^;

I don't really drink(alcohol), but it's nice to see a little change of pace. So far in the comic, as far as I can remember, it's been pretty serious/tense with only bits of comedy here and there. When you show more of a relaxed side to a character(s) like in this scene, you add a bit more depth and personality. Instead of drawing about a bunch of action stars constantly in a state of war, you're showing them in a more realistic light, that they do indeed have lives of their own to enjoy when they can. Kudos~
