A well-timed tackle prevents Riah from being toasted though I can’t say the same about the trio already deep in it. And what’s this….? A new character whose cover is blown by the blast!

Luckily, at least I’m pretty sure, the flames won’t get anybody out in the open air, especially if they dive under the water away from the sewer gas! Xhianil, of course, can just stand there lol. I don’t want Shie to get burned again, she’s trying so hard xD

And boom goes the dynamite… or the methane gas. Kess is fairly close to that, hope she just got some scorched eyebrows?

Oof – all those comments on the previous page about Xhianil’s flames not (yet) setting off a methane explosion were just proven correct. That third panel has Kilani and Kess very explicitly covering their faces, hopefully setting up that they WILL survive this, but from that angle the sewer pipe looks like the barrel of a gun pointed right at them. Shie may lose the ‘biggest burn marks’ title among the current cast – and standing in sewage is not going to do scorched tigers any favors. This would be a very sad way for Kess to die – a close parallel to how she had killed Xhianil’s partner in a moment’s panic – and would probably leave Xhianil conflicted and confused in the aftermath. Hoping that it’s not time to write Kess out of the comic just yet, before she’s able to really act on the personal growth she’s had lately!
